Jacques Mercier, honorary researcher of the CNRS National Center for Scientific Research, member of the Laboratory of Ethnology and Comparative Sociology, defines himself as an art anthropologist for whom any comprehensive approach of artworks requests the indefectible association of their study with aesthetic emotion. He has published a number of books on the art and culture of Ethiopia and curated two major exhibitions on Ethiopian art in Paris museums.
